MaJ's house for the weekend

So when you have a grandmother who loves to cook and bake this may be what one of her cabinets may look like. Don't be fooled it doesn't stop at the edge of the picture. It continues back into the left. There are also other cabinets that look like this. So we have plenty of foil, parchment paper, and ziplock baggies. The main thing that stands out to me is the alcohol in the front. MaJ does NOT drink and doesn't like it when I do even. So here we have a bottle of amaretto de sabroso which is 56 proof. Then we have Creme de Almond Noyaux which is 50 proof and 25%Alc by vol. They are both used for cooking but whbt a laugh one gets when finding liquere in your grandmothers cabinet. lol.
There are also goodnes know how many things of cherries, dates, and the dried fruit used in cookies and fruit bread. Oh goodness. Well thats just the kitchen. The rest of the house. haha.
There are dishes and clothes and books and table clothes and hankies from her parents. Spent a long time going through everything and her naming off who it was from, who made it, and or where it came from. So I spent time labeling items such as table clothes and hankies and candles. Depressing as it was we went through the dishes and some of the nick knacks and were writing down and editing the list that was previously made of who gets what. It sucked and I don't like to think about that but I know it is something that has to be done.
So all in all it was long, eventful weekend and we got lots done. :)

My Grandma is an immigrant from Germany... she has both the baking cabinet AND a liquor cabinet! lol! We also just had to do some labeling of who get's what this summer and it's tough, but I'm sure it saves some drama in the long run.

Yea I know it will but it still sux. Tryin to think positively about it. Its done and we wont have to worry about it down the road. Got to see all the fun stuff that she has from all over the place and learn about my great grandparents in the process. :) So that was cool and seeing how they made some of the hankies and table cloths. wow!
